Magnetic fields are observed everywhere in the Solar System, and some past magnetic fields have also been recorded in some planetary bodies. Their study can give information about the evolution of the planets and of the Sun. The most important ones are generated and sustained within planetary iron liquid cores, and interact with the Solar Wind, at different timescales.

We will introduce some bases about rock magnetism, paleomagnetism and magnetic fields. Then, we will describe the characterization of past and present-day magnetic fields in planetary solid bodies. This will allow to discuss the evolution of these bodies and of the whole Solar System.
